About

Circuit Clerk Brenda Ganey has spent her entire career in public service, helping to make sure the people of Baldwin County have better access to the court system and working to make that court system as effective and efficient as possible.

Throughout her career, which began in the Baldwin County Circuit Clerk Office, she has worked with every part of the judicial system – supervising all financial activities and never receiving a bad audit report for said work, implementing and upgrading records systems to create easier access to information, assisting with elections to help make sure absentee ballots were safe and secure and working with judges and elected leaders across our county and state to create policies and procedures designed to make access to and understanding of our judicial system easier for all of us.

She also spent seven years as Baldwin County’s Court Administrator, supervising the calendar and scheduling for all three Baldwin County courthouse locations and overseeing the operations and management of judicial financial accounts. During that time, Brenda was instrumental in working with Baldwin County legislators and judges to help craft the legislation that created the new Baldwin County Mental Health Court, which allows people with mental illnesses to get treatment and medical help to address their mental illnesses instead of being sentenced to prison.

During COVID, she worked with a special committee created by the Alabama Supreme Court to help properly distribute federal funding to every court system in the state and oversaw the spending for each system to make certain rules and guidelines for spending were followed.

In July 2022, she was appointed to her current position as Circuit Clerk by the members of the Baldwin County Judiciary, who found her to be the best candidate for the position. Even in her short time as Clerk, she has already implemented changes that directly benefit our citizens — consolidating resources and saving money, allocating employees more efficiently to allow courthouse locations in Fairhope and Foley to be fully-staffed at all times, creating a new communication system that makes sure people can get Clerk Office staff directly on the phone when needed and working hard to make citizens get the money that they are due from the court system.

Ganey is highly qualified for her role as Circuit Clerk, having served on numerous committees and boards throughout her career including the Alabama Circuit Clerks Technology Committee, Alabama Court Specialists Association, Alabama Circuit Clerks Association, Baldwin County Courthouse Security Committee, and the Alabama Technology Commission. She has long been a member of the Baldwin County Republican Party and also is a member of both the Eastern Shore Republican Women and South Baldwin Republican Women.

Brenda has been married to her husband Randy, who retired from the Baldwin County School System, for 47 years and has two sons, Lance and Logan. She is a graduate of Baldwin County High School and Faulkner State Junior College and is a member of New Life Baptist Church.
